Generating heat seems an odd thing for a plant to do, but some plants have warm flowers. Why?
Flowers attract insects with fragrance and colour and provide nectar and pollen for them. This is considered an evolutionary trade-off where the flowers “reward” the insects with food in exchange for being fertilised by the insects. |
